Back to Normal

So I'm home now, and it sure feels good to be back. And I must say, it was mighty nice of my family to save the laundry for me. Laundry1 This is sort of exactly what the garage floor looked like after I gathered dirty clothing from all the (5) bedrooms, but before I sorted it. Now I bring this up only because it is actually a bit of an anomaly that my husband wouldn't have everything spiffy when I return home from a trip. He's pretty phemonal terrific wonderful great that way. When he came out and saw me sorting through this monster pile, he expressed surprise that there was laundry to be done. When I expressed suprise in return that he might be suprised that 4 people (who wear clothes on a routine basis) x 4 days might, possibly, = a large laundry pile he pointed out that earlier in the day there had been no large laundry pile on the garage floor. Had there been one, he certainly would have taken care of it. Aha! Now I see what has happened. Apparently he has suffered some sort of brain trauma that left him with the notion that the pants normally put the shirts, socks, and underwear in their pockets and walk themselves out to the washer. A mistake anyone could make!

P.S. For anyone that might be tempted to point out that my kids are old enough to do their own laundry, I know that. They have been taught, they are capable. I, however, find it to be extremely wasteful of water and energy to have 5 or 6 people doing their own laundry when it's not that big a deal for me to do it. Of course we could take turns, but if you read my interview at Derfwad Manor you would realize I'm not trusting my delicates to a 14 year boy.

In any event, all hail normalcy!

Gee - that was an impressive pile for only 4 days! I loathe doing laundry. I have been known to go out and buy new underwear just to put it off for a week or so. Having said that, welcome home!

Ah yes... "Normal"... oh, how I missed it over the holidays. I've just finished folding last week's laundry while two loads for this week's laundry are washing and drying...

I am trekking all of mine to the laundromat - now that is a cultural experience in the south.

I am glad someone's laundry room at leat looks like mine.

Glad you are home safe and sound.

Maggie-beth, I must confess that is not an actual photo--I swiped it off Google images. The actual pile ended up being 6 loads.

I'm sorry...I'll see your 6 loads and raise you that plus a couple (my own personal "Mt. Fuji" of laundry!) AND no drier!! Here in Japan, the majority of us dry our clothes the "old fashioned" way...outside!! Great on a sunshiney day...sucks during the "rainy season"!!
Glad things are back to "normal"!!

That is a pretty good pile of laundry for 4 days. i'd be tempted to have them all do their own lundry anyway!
Glad to see you back home safe and sound.

Four kids and a huz is why I quit trying to air dry my laundry. When we were at any number fewer number of child units, we were on cotton and I had drying lines draped through the dining room. Since the reno (ended in August), I must admit that my major vice is using the dryer. (But I still don't have a car so ha!)
