These are the kind of conversations good neighbors have.
Me (answering phone): Hello?
Good Neighbor: Hey, hate to bother you but Kelsey has soccer practice in 10 minutes and she's not answering the phone--will you go in and wake her up?
Me: No problem.

Thursday night I was trying to cook dinner and sweep the floor simultaneously. I enlisted MVP's help with dinner.
Me: Congratulations--you just made a roux and a white sauce.
MVP: What the hell is a roux?
Me: It's the base for a white sauce. It was what you did with the butter and flour. I just thought you should know the name for it.
MVP: Why should I know the name for it?
Me: I don't know . . . so you can impress a girl with your cooking knowledge.
MVP: I'm pretty sure that no girls I know have any idea what a roux is.
I chuckled [out loud] at your son's final comment. I knew it was coming. Just knew it.
