There are definitely times it would be uberconvenient! I'm certainly not as anti-minivan as I once was. I just hate driving big cars (and tend to hit things...).

Can't remember the last CAR trip we took where all of the kids were with us. Totally not enough leg room.

I like them cause they make me feel tall, like I could crush other drivers like a bug. I drive a 2001 Saturn Ion instead to avoid ecouraging my underlying Napoleon Complex.

Enjoy! Some our best times were those sports trips - I am sure you are having lots of fun! I only had a big Station Wagon, but my husband had a big Dodge truck with a carpeted, enclosed bed. The kids loved to climb in here to play cards or nap.

I've had minivans and liked them, but last year I got a Nissan Versa. It's a small car that seats five people. I like it because:

1) I drove from Denver to Phoenix on $70 worth of gas.

2) What, your kids want to go with us? Oh, I'm sorry...I don't have enough room in my car for everyone.

It is inconvenient sometimes, but for me, the pros outweigh the cons (did I mention the gas mileage?)

Actually, my favorite car I ever had was a red Ford Explorer. Unfortunately, that was only a five-seater too, so when we found out (oops!) that we were going to have a third child, we went the minivan route.

I love my mini-van. For many of the same reasons you cited. We are exploring options to replace the sporty sedan we have. Unfortunately Mazda is not making the MPV anymore or I would get another one.

Does a Kia Rondo count as a minivan? I don't know what to call it. I love it, but I miss the gas mileage I got in my Elantra!

You are so funny!

Minivans are like storage rooms with wheels. They also come in handy for kids and friends, despite looking uncool outside! It's very convenient, but it doesn't hurt to drive safely!

 Dante Mallet

Good for you. According to a recent survey by the NTSB (saw it on Today at NBC), minivans and SUV's are considered to be the safest kinds of vehicles, with a ratio of less than ten car accident deaths in a million. The survey says the bigger the car, the bigger the chance to survive in an accident. Of course, remember to always always drive safely and obey traffic rules.
