First things first: I can’t believe it was two weeks ago that I said I’d pick a winner of the BeFunky giveaway. Sorry!
The random number generator picked numbers 2 and 17. Naomi and Katie—send me your contact info, including email and I will forward it to BeFunky. You have to promise to share pics with us!
I have an old dog and a puppy. They are so cute together. I've been taking pictures of them.
I also have two gorgeous children that are growing up too fast. I've been taking pictures of them. It would be fun to be able to play with some of the pictures.
I hope I'm not too late!

I would love to be able to funkify pictures of my kids! My son would think it was hilarious, and my girls would probably have a lot of fun with it as well - as many pictures as they take of themselves! :) I like the pencil one - it would be fun to have kids color pictures of themselves!
Thanks for the opportunity!

Next things next:
I was given the opportunity, through Wunderkind PR, to review and give away Kelley Armstrong’s new book, Waking the Witch. I was excited to do this book because I saw a lot of high school girls reading another of her books, Bitten, while I was teaching high school last spring.
This is where the mea culpa comes in. What with the working on the master’s degree and the kayaking and the sightseeing in L.A. and the being at Six Flags Magic Mountain with 11 kids (today) and the writing workshop (details to follow), I have not actually read the book. Believe me, I do feel terrible.
I can share with you the publisher’s blurb, though.
Savannah Levine the spunky, spirited, and talented young witch who takes the lead in Armstrong’s newest novel is a far cry from the precocious and uncontrollable child we met eight years ago in Stolen. The product of a notoriously dark witch and a cutthroat sorcerer, Savannah was never meant to be ordinary, and now, at twenty-one, Savannah is tired of being a mere assistant at her adopted parents’ PI agency. When a case presents itself while her parents are out of town, Savannah jumps at the prospect of solving her own investigation. Soon, Savannah finds herself caught in a web of unraveling secrets, a burgeoning love affair, and a shocking revelation that threatens to shatter her entire world.
I have skimmed the book and I have to say I think I’m going to like the strong lead character and that the dialogue is just salty enough to make the teens feel like reading it is a little subversive (that’s important in a young adult novel).
If you’ve got a teen that might be into the “urban fantasy” genre—or if you want to check it out yourself—leave me a comment telling me who is going to get to read the book first. I’ll pick a winner when I remember to next Monday!

My best friend's daughter falls smack into this age group. I would love to me able to give it to her!

I like Kelley Armstrong quite a bit, and I'm not ashamed to admit to reading YA fiction now and again.

I have a teenaged girl in my life who would inhale that book. Have fun at Magic Mountain!

Thank you! I am so excited!
And about the book, my girl is only 8, so if I won it, it would be for me. I find I like the teen lit. It is entertaining and I can usually get through it quickly.

I'd read it first (I'm only being honest!), then I'd pass it on to my teenage nieces. Thanks, Jenn!

I'll read it, honesty first always, and then Katy will on her next visit. She is a voracious reader (takes after me that way) and will finish it off in 2 days (as I'm sure I will too). Then we'll stash it on the shelf and pine over another one in the series (hopefully?). Her past visit I happened to score the 7th book in the House of Night series (it was JUST released a couple of months ago) from the library and she devoured it and was super happy to be able to go home and tell her friends who also read the series that she got to read it!

I'd totally read this book first! :-)
