I’ve been feeling a bit blah the past week. Not really sick, but it’s there lurking—waiting for me to get run down enough to let it take hold. Which, as we all know, can happen quite easily this time of year.
So Friday when I got home from work and everybody was out I decided to seize the opportunity and get a really great night’s sleep—I was looking for 12 hours or so (this is a tried-and-true way for me to stay healthy—I just can’t always do it). By 5 p.m. I was upstairs in my pajamas, eating a bowl of soup and cracking open the new Vanity Fair—the one with Johnny Depp on the cover. Aaaaah, time to let the relaxation and rejuvenation begin.
Except.
At 5:15 my husband is standing in the doorway, looking both shocked and chagrined and saying, “Ummm, I was kind of hoping that you would join me for dinner tonight—everyone is in town for tomorrow night’s party, we’re all going out for Chinese and I know T’s wife K would have a better time if there was another spouse there.”
Half an hour later I was put back together, eating some tasty Chinese food, and not getting 12 hours sleep.
(Though I must say that the MSG in the Chinese food was NOT my friend at my Saturday morning Weight Watcher’s weigh-in)
I did spend the rest of the weekend being as lazy as can possibly be (with the exception of the 5 hours at the big work party shindig). Today I paid for the weekend’s laziness by doing laundry and Christmas decorating for 10 hours straight.
Another few days like today and I should be ready for the holiday. Maybe.

Missed your blogging! It is understandable knowing you were under the weather. I hope your house looks great and you are feeling better. Take care.

I spent part of yesterday curled up under a blanket, reading a book. It's good preventive care!

OMG. You totally win Spouse of the Year. To get "unjammied," well, that's just awesome and deserving of some kind of award.

Oh man, that would have been so hard to get out of bed after being in it with Johnny Depp! I would have done the same thing though, I don't like to miss going out! Hope you get some rest this week!

You were a good woman to get dressed and go out. What a struggle!

I'm a big believer in extra sleep to stay healthy, too.
Hope you are feeling better this week!

Sleep always does it for me, and so does a fun night with friends.

Ok, I so would NOT have gotten out of bed. I probably would have said something snarky like, "think ahead much dear?" and gone back to my magazine. Yeah, I'm sweet like that. Especially if I'm in need of 12 hours of sleep.

I hope that the cold didn't get you!
I had Chinese food tonight and I've already started checking my ankles for swelling.

We all need a day or two off; you deserve this and more.
Have you tried EmergenC? It is a huge dose of vitamin c that you mix with water/tea/ginger ale or whatever and it seems to help me when I feel run down. I have the girls drinking it every few days too.
Take care, Suz

Funny how that works out! Good for you - your husband pulled the strings saying the other spouse would feel lonely, but even so, your empathy made you move.
Now that you've done your good deed - treat yourself and don't let them pull you away!
