Friday night: Makeup and sushi party for my friend T's 45th birthday. If T didn't feel she looked good for her age before I told her Callista Gingrich is also 45, she did after seeing this . . .
Saturday morning: The monthly beagle brigade at the dog park. You can't help but smile when surrounded by so many beagles.
Saturday afternoon: Rode my bike around the lake while SB rollerbladed--it seemed like the whole world was out soaking up the sun.
Saturday night: A movie (One for the Money) and Indian food with OMomK. The highlight of the evening had to be when neither waiter could open our bottle of Champagne. They wouldn't let one of us do it even after we assured them that we have many years of cork-popping experience between the two of us. I think it was a male pride thing.
Sunday morning: Kayaking with my friend Heidi. See Saturday morning re: soaking up sun and crowds.
Sunday afternoon: Errands with SB, followed by our own little un-Superbowl party for two. We watched Soul Surfer and Country Strong and she went a little crazy baking for her brothers' care packages and her friends.
The downside to all that baking is that she doesn't actually eat that type of food, so I have to be the taste tester. Sigh.
How was your weekend?

Yummy! We just hung out. Frank went to a superbowl party even though he doesn't watch football. Ernest and my husband tinkered with cars. I started reading Catherine the Great.
I hope someone eventually got that champagne open!

Poor Callista! Her face and skin look young enough - it's just her style and attitude that make this 45 year old woman look like Barbara Bush (senior).
How sad is that, a woman more than ten years younger than I am, deliberately trying to make herself look like she's 20 years older?
I made the most incredibly sinful blondies for Superbowl dessert - will post a recipe today, soon!

Un-Superbowl Party. I like that. It was part of my weekend, as well, although I cheated and checked in on the Madonna show.
Best part of my weekend, slow but steady rain. Feels so good to see the ground wet again.

We did some garden clean-up and I continues with my closet and cabinet organizing. We didn't plan to watch the game, but ended up with it on, though we talked through much of it and watched the commercials - not many fun ones this year.
Go on line to watch the Faris Beuller one - longer and much funnier than the version during the game.

That picture proves one thing, platinum ages you unless you're 18.
I'm down in SM, still house sitting (after the superbowl) while they flew to Vegas.
Lindy and I had a good time, loved the Madonna halftime show.

Oh, such a downside! :-)
That sounds like an absolutely lovely weekend.

gosh, that's a scary looking photo! The other is delicious :-) I met my best friend from high school's granddaughter this weekend! Also took Wolf & Dave to the beach, chilly, but not too.

We've got the sunshine here, just not the heat to go with it.
I'm trying to see the downside of being the tester...

Those baked goods look amazing! We had a ton of sun in Seattle over the weekend. I washed cars and went for a hike. It was a wonderful weekend!

I wish I didn't eat that kind of food :yum:

I think that everyone is so mesmerized by that awesome photo of Mrs. Gingrich that they've neglected to notice that you made homemade whoppie pies. To quote Gary, "Holy Cats!"

Darn. The pressure of being resident taste tester.
My, but you packed a lot in to a couple of days. I oversaw a sleepover--THAT doesn't need to happen again for quite some time, 'tho it was less stressful than usual since Byron and Haakon were in St. Paul doing a wizarding class at the science museum. I do better with a passle of wild girls when it's just me against them.
Er, me WITH them.
