When I wrote this post yesterday, I used pseoudonyms as we were still getting some things squared away. So . . . Gretchen is actually Ingrid and her mother Janet is really Susan.
Along with the PITA Mom efforts, there is a fundraising campaign to get her into a private treatment center, which would happen much sooner than the bed she is waiting for that is covered by Canada's national insurance.

You never think it could happen to your kid until it does. It is always terrifying when your child gets a life-threatening illness, but especially so when our healthcare system is woefully uneducated about the disease and treatment is so difficult and expensive to access.
