Love, Road Trip Style

Tonight was the night. A road weary, but up for just about anything, Bossy parked her Saturn convertible in katydidnot's San Diego driveway today.

Of course the first thing we did was ply her with alcohol. 'Cause that's the way the San Diego bloggers roll.

I knew she was coming, so I baked a cake. (Disclaimer: I was lazy and bought tube icing from the store. The results were not good; I can do much better than this).

Cheri was not able to make it. Some lame excuse about excruciating post-surgical pain; whatever. She did, however, send lovely, festive, and thematically appropriate flowers. We missed her terribly.

 

Of course there were cameras. By now Bossy must feel like she's being chased cross-country by paparazzi.

She was a sport and posed for our trademark shoe picture. Counterclockwise from the top: Jamie, Bossy, Kate, Jenn, Deb, Aaryn.

There was food and drink and laughter, but more than that there was blog love. We talked for hours about writing and blogging and marriage and discovering ourselves. This evening was exactly what Mrs,. G had in mind when she envisioned her Women's Colony.

It was kinda so special that a lot of what was said was not really blog material--it was the sort of thing that you talk about with your real-life friends--the really good ones who support you through good times and bad. Which is pretty damned amazing since we've all only just met.

So, I'm going to leave you with the photos and the brief recap. But first, I just have to say that Bossy's Excellent Road Trip is a magical thing. She's (literally) driving herself to the brink in order to share the love and connect people from one end of this country to the other. Thanks Bossy.

Dang and double dang! I'm so thrilled that you guys had a fabulous time, but I'm still writhing in anguish because I just could NOT make it to meet Bossy in Scottsdale. She was here last Saturday, but that was the day I had been planning for MONTHS to give my husband ("The Wiz") a huge surprise birthday party. We had friends from all over locally attending, and his brother and sister flew in that morning JUST for the party. They then flew back home at the crack of dawn on Sunday. I just COULDN'T make it to the Scottsdale Hilton to meet Bossy, what with being the hostess of the surprise party and all. *sigh* Having read the reviews of the Scottsdale party, and now the San Diego party...well, you can imagine how I'm feeling. *triple sigh*

I am so jealous I could just lick the walls. And why did I not tell my own bloggy sisters in the San Diego area to get their happy hinneys (sp) over to join all y'all? Blogging is an amazing thing, isn't it? None of you would have known each other or met or anything if it hadn't have been for this weird thing we do.

Lovely photos. I don't read any of these other blogs (and I daren't widen my net any wider or I'll never get any work done, my children will starve and my house will be even more of a hovel than it already is) but they all look lovely people.

I could have handled that particular meet-up very well. Good size, good group. If the group gets any bigger, though, I get cold feet, cold sweats, and cold sores.
