To me, as a Brit, cheerleading (is that what you call it?) seems such a peculiar thing to do. I am sure many of our traditions would seem equally peculiar to you too! Funny old world!
I can see why the guys like it though - all those short skirts and nice legs!
What fun!! I did cheerleading in college for a year (before you get too impressed, I was NOT much of a cheerleader, it was at the Air Force Academy, where there was a VERY limited number of girls).
Just seeing the girls in the air like that makes me nervous for the falling/catching part. Being a cheerleader is definitely an athletic sport. They just try to mask that with the smiles and pompoms.
I recently found out that the student section in the stands is called "the jungle." It might just be safer to be a cheerleader!
Phew! I'm glad she's not the one in the air. After my conference about head injuries I was told that being the flyer is one of the most dangerous sports/activities out there!
Oh...what memories that brings back. But of course, I was never the one being tossed or standing on someone's shoulders....I was always on the bottom! Oh well...it was still fun...sometimes scary, but still so much fun!!

My Chickie Girl LOVED this picture! She went to a cheer camp last weekend and gets to cheer at halftime on Thursday.
The stunts make me nervous (our little ones won't be doing them, obviously).

So glad that's not one of my girls in the air. I think I'd have a heart attack every single time.

Ah, that's how warm-weather cheerleaders look...ours wear ear muffs, gloves, sweatshirts, leggings, moon boots...

A base. I was a base, too. Not as cute, but ... (sigh) ... I do remember the feeling of NOT being in the air.
