On Thursday night I watched Surfwise, a documentary about a very non-traditional family whose childhood revolved around surfing and non-conformity. That's all I'm going to say about it accept to recommend you rent it and to send you over to From The Frontlines where Mary Alice does an amazing job of weaving the movie and the story of her upbringing together in posts that are a fascinating sociological study and great writing.
So, we're watching the movie. Dorian Paskowitz, the patriarch of the family, fathered 9 children in 9 years.
Danger Boy: Wow! That was one sterile I mean fertile dude. (Waits a beat, slaps head). Oh my god! Your blogging is infecting me! In my head that sentence looked like this: That was one sterile fertile dude.
I really want to see that documentary. I've been ready MA's recollections, too. It's hilarious about DB doing mental strikeovers!

Do you lie in bed at night reviewing the day wondering how to translate events into a post?

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who actually sees words in me head. . .

DB is very funny! Since I'm a new blogger my family is just catching on. I heard my son recently say, under his breath, "you're gonna blog about this aren't you?"
I haven't heard anything about his movie, but will be checking out the links you gave.

OK since I live in a surfer family and yet oddly enough like snow skiing I don't do it I guess I'll have to give in and rent this. Also...Do you ever watch True TV when they have the Beach Patrol? Yeah I'm addicted to watching all my favorite SoCal beach spots with real people.
I love strike throughs. It is kinda like using subliminal messages. ;)

I don't even know how to do those strikeover things. Not that they are quite me perhaps. Funny how we all have our little quirky blogging habits.
9 children in 9 years. Boy! I don't suppose the mother got a lot of surfing in.

I may have to check out that movie. I am wondering about the 9 children in 9 years thing. I hope this guy had a harem rather than putting one woman through that hell.

Thanks for the link to Mary Alice. My family enjoyed that documentary - I love exposing my kids to examples of parenting which make me look good in comparison!
