There's nothing I like better than a little pampering. When Social Butterfly was small she was always happy to oblige. I would sit on a towel in front of the mirrored closet doors in our old master bedroom while her 3 and 4-year old self would style my hair outlandishly (lots of barrettes and butterfly clips) and apply lots of blush to my entire face.
I often took her with me when I went to my hairdresser--a wonderful, fun lady who had a salon in her garage and loved little kids. Apparently SB had picked up on the patter unique to the hair salon. While she brushed and combed and twisted and clipped she asked me questions about my husband and kids while relating anecdotes from her own fictional, grown-up family. It was truly a hoot-she had it all down--lingo, cadence and facial expression.
Today, in some odd happenstance of her not having other plans (this practically never happens), I got a blowout and full makeup. The outcome was an infinite improvement over her earlier work, but the conversation was not quite as whimsical. In the end though I go back to my opening sentence--there's nothing I like better than a little pampering.
Thanks, you little goof!
How fun!! I sometimes need more girly time and I got some of that this weekend. I had to kidnap my niece to get it...but we scored. :)

Oh, that picture is adorable!
Maybe not as whimsical, but OH...the special times you're wracking up over the years.

Wonderful, joyous, momentous. I'm so glad you had time & she had no plans...And it sounds like the blush landed where it's supposed to.
:D

Fun story. My girls used to get a round brush stuck in my hair every time I let them play beauty shop with me. I have PTSD from that.

What a great story...and wonderful memories for you. I also loved when my girls did this...they loved to twist my hair in little knots and add pencils...then they would crack up.
Girls are fun.
SB is a doll.

What a fantastic memory! Not to mention feeling just delicious. This is one of the many reasons I miss not having girls. The boys have absolutely no interest in brushing my hair.

What fun! It was always the other way around with me and my daughter, she was forever wanting me to make her up. She still asks me to blow dry, curl or braid her hair. She puts on her own make up these days though. Great memories!

how fun! I was a little sad thinking once that my sons would not want to do beauty parlor--I do love the feeling of being pampered--and little kids are so gentle with hair. All three love to comb my hair and style it--trouble is, with boys, I get two options: Power Ranger or X-man.

I live in a house with four males. Girly time seems like a luxury. I need it, but I tell myself I don't and there's no one to argue with me.

My daughter still does that or when she does my nails she will say "You work today?"

What a beautiful girl! I was picturing her as Dolly Parton when you were talking about the patter.

How sweet. My kids loved to brush my hair but at an age where the brushing felt like wrapping strands of hair around barbed wire and yanking until I screeched.

That is the darlingest picture of her! What precious memories. Aren't daughters great?

I love when Chickie Girl messes with my hair! One time she had about a million clippies in my hair and the doorbell rang. I don't think my neighbor ever laughed so hard before or since!

I love it when Jessamine plays with my hair. Personally I am a horrible stylist though. I'd like to go to beauty school just so I can learn how to style my own hair and make some decent ponytails for my girls.
