Social Butterfly decided (finally!) that she would give water polo a try. (Not that her brothers have been bugging her for years or anything). She's going to play spring club to see how she likes it.
A girl on the team (who doesn't know SB) heard that this cheerleader was going to be at practice. Apparently she talked some big time smack about SB. Phrases like "skinny cheerleader," "she'll probably drown," and "no idea how to play" were bandied about.
SB was incensed. "Doesn't she know who my brothers are? I probably know the rules as well as anyone on the team. Plus, I'm tough--I didn't grow up with Danger Boy as a brother for nothing."
If actions speak louder than words, I'd say that the goal she scored during her first scrimmage spoke volumes. That's my strong, athletic, driven girl. Who happens to rock both a cheer skirt and a Speedo.
You go, girl!
haha yeah she'll def stick at it now and succeed just to prove this other girl wrong. Good for her.
They've just started to do water polo at our swim club back home and I was trying to persuade my boys it would be much more exciting than boring old swim training but they were not for convincing. I shall keep working on it.
Wow - I think I am first!

You would imagine that any girl who grew up with big, friendly brothers would know how to kick a$$!

SB has what's called 'the full package.' Make that polo snob drink her words!

Your daughter has the ability to do anything she puts her mind to do. I'm guessing that this other gal just gave SB all the motivation she will ever need to be a kickin' water polo athlete.
In the other gal's defense, I do shamefully admit that until you made me realize how darned athletic a cheerleader has to be, I only saw cheerleaders as airhead girls with loud voices and pompoms. My bad.

Wow. So cool. Good luck to her!

That's right - show those girls whose boss! Nothing like a super cute cheerleader to put the smack down and put those girls in their places!

This is what I'm talking about. I spent an hour explaining to her that she needed to spend time on a collegiate scholarship sport. I met a man at Safeway in SD wearing his UC Irvine shirt; I asked him about it and he said his daughter played for them on scholarship!

My daughter quit cheerleading for swimming. Go SB!
