Social Butterfly had a group of friends over after school last night. I was cooking dinner while waiting for Mr. Fix-it to return home from a business trip. The kids asked if I would take them to a movie--they wanted to go at 8:15. Friday nights are the night of the week that I go to bed the earliest and am the most wiped.
Me: You either have to pick an earlier movie or have someone else's parents drive home.
SB: K.
Later
Me: Did you find another parent to drive home?
SB: Yes
Later
Mr. Fix-it: What time is that movie over do you think?
Me: About 10:30, why?
Mr. FI: I'm driving them home.
Me: You are the other parent?!
Well, at least YOU got to go to bed early! lol

Oh and I was in bed by 8 last night. I tried to take a nap on the sofa earlier, but my son came home with some friends and any chance of a sofa nap were over.

Smart kid! What movie did they see? There are a couple I want to see, if I can find the time, and a babysitter.

Gotcha! Has she really learned how to game the system or are you just tired as SB brings up the rear?
Posted by: Manic Mommy | June 13, 2009 at 10:57 AM
My two year old is already like this--how do they learn so early and so well?

At least ONE of you had an early night.

Very clever. Does this sort of parent manipulation happen often? Some of them just get so darn good at it.

That is too funny! It is something I think I have to look forward to in my future! Smart Girl!!!

Ha! That's funny. That's one thing every teenage girl learns how to do...manipulate her parents. :)

oooh what a trickster!
Posted by: Janet | June 14, 2009 at 10:11 PM
I have to say this happens to me on a regular basis. As in, "Are you sure you have a ride home? Who's picking you up? Sidni's mom? Are you sure? Are you POSITIVE?" Which gets me nothing but eye rolls, and "Yes MOM, I'm sure!" Then guess who gets a phone call at 10:30pm because she doesn't have a ride? GAH. This is one reason I'll be glad when hubby and I are living in the same state again. Starting tomorrow. Yay.
