I substitute in schools that have diverse populations. Most students come from ethnic backgrounds where virtually everyone has brown eyes and consequently are enthralled with blue eyes. I’ve had the following exchange with both boys and girls from 4th to 10th graders.
Student: Miss?
Mrs. Juggling: Yes?
Student (staring intently into my eyes): I really love your blue eyes.
Mrs. Juggling: Thank you. I like your brown eyes.
Ah, who knew it would be adolescents that would make you feel more beautiful than you ever have?
Hee hee.

Yep, like in Italy, my blond haired, blue eyed roommate got quite the attention!

P.S. My green eyes get the same response.

My son, daughter-in-law, oldest grandson and husband are all blue eyed. My younger grandson would stare at me in fascination and I couldn't figure out why, until I realized he was looking at my dark brown eyes--totally an anomaly in his little world!
