It's heartbreaking, and you're so right, we know more people, we love more people...but we're also there for more people.

I hope our numbers, lift Anna, somehow.

Heartbreaking doesn't quite cover it either. I will be keeping this family in my thoughts for a long time.

I read about this. I couldn't sleep that night thinking how I had gaily sent my children off that day to check out how our golf course creek had turned into a raging torrent. I didn't realize the mother had a blog.

Ugh!! Heart wrenching!! I'm sorry.

It's so awful. I was just thinking this morning about the last service I went to for someone far too young. It was my friend's sister, a mother. When she found out that she was sick, she said "just thank god it's not one of my babies." And that's what makes this loss to terribly painful. It's someone's baby. And I know that she would give anything in the world to take his place in this. All we can do as friends and onlookers is to keep praying for her.

Thank you, Jenn. Jack is the same age as my youngest son, and I am struck by the knowledge that it could have easily been me walking in Anna's shoes right now. It's every mother's nightmare and I am praying for this family.

There are simply no words that will do anything toward mitigating the pain that Anna and her family are in. Anna is a woman who draws strength from her prayer and faith and I know that many of you will pray for her; this is all anyone can do in a situation like this.

It really puts things into perspective, doesn't it? And my heart is still so broken for her.
