Yes, I saw this on facebook! I've been worried about it since my kids entered elementary school. The oldest is now a sophomore in college and nothing has changed: neither the system nor my opinion.

Also, love SB's new hair color!

Good for you with this letter and your sensical approach to what education should be.

I'm pretty sure you'd have *really* gotten readers' attention, though, if you'd tossed in the idea of rectal douching...

(just a little shout-out there to you and my mom)

When kids see a question like "What do you think the author was trying to tell you?", no wonder they are caught off guard! It is so rare! Teachers don't want to put questions like that in a test, because grading the test will take a lot longer. They are already overworked, underpaid, and looking for shortcuts. So much about the current system makes me sad... and worried for my son who is about to enter the school system.

SB looks great! She looks great either way.

"the current system is insane", tell it like it IS GIRL :)

the teacher actually said that to the student??? Holy cow! Sounds like that teacher needs to think about retirement and soon!

Love the new hair color :-)

I should have sent you the link but I found an article online saying teachers were overpaid.

SB looks good blonde or brunette. I'm dying to see Red Social Butterfly.

There's a lot of good reason not to let test scores dictate education decisions, that's one of them!

p.s. I like the new color.

Busy Bee Suz

She can pull of blonde, brown and really, any other color that she fancies. :)
Love your letter...I agree!!!!

Love SB's new look and your letter. So glad you are submitting your thoughtful commentary to a bigger audience - as it should be!

The only enrichment from all the testing is the bank accounts of the testing companies.

love your letter!

and your daughter is just lovely, whatever color hair.
