My husband and I watching the Democratic National Convention is a clear case of the choir being preached to. But still.
The speakers have been nothing short of electrifying; the transcendent moments numerous. I may not have cried when my kids went to college, butwhen Gabby Giffords led the pledge? Puh-lease.
We've TiVoed everything, so I actually watched Clinton's speech again today. It was that good. Michelle Obama's we watched twice the night she gave it. Fangirl doesn't begin to cover it.
Even before President Obama said it, I was fully aware that this election is a clear choice about the direction that this country will take; I have more hope after this week that voters will make the choice I will make--re-elect Obama and move forward in restoring the values upon which this country was founded and the reason America is great--opportunity for all.
Social Butterfly is truly bummed that she will not get the chance to vote in this election as she turns 18 on November 11. While I am sad on her behalf, I am so proud that she cares that much about her right to vote.
As frustrating as all the ads, negativity, mudslinging, etc. (on both sides) can be, this week, and this convention, have made me prouder than ever to be an American.
What a shame that SB won't be able to vote this year. She can make up for it in the coming years. :-)
My older girl will be 18 for the next presidential election. Her birthday is in late September and part of her celebration plan for that year is to register to vote that day.

Too bad you don't have the fun of living in a swing state!

I didn't think I'd watch it. But...I really wanted to see what Clinton had to say. And it was spectacular!

Bracing myself for the onslaught of political ads in my swing state...
But yes, I was the choir being preached to this past week, too, and I thought Clinton did a swell job.

I honestly wonder how many people watch both conventions -- Republican and Democrat -- with an open mind. I'm not trying to be cynical here, but having friends on both sides of the political spectrum makes me wonder if made-up minds are changed (or even effected) by what they see and hear.

My son turns 18 in January and he is also bummed about missing the chance to vote. I love that he'll discuss politics with us (and that he shares my liberal views so far!). But I agree with Karen - it does seem like analysis of the conventions skews heavily partisan, so I wonder if anyone who has already made up their mind gives any thought to the other guys. It's easy to dismiss the coverage as "FOX conservatives" or "liberal media bias" if it doesn't fit with your preconcieved notions(Limbaugh's analysis of Obama's speech comes to mind).

That is very special that SB wants to vote. She WILL get there!

Music helps us relieve stress and it makes the environment comfortable. When I am in a journey, I always listen to music to overcome the stress of journey.
