I barely saw Danger Boy the whole week since I was in bed right after work every night and he also had things to do and places to go. We did get to have a couple of chats though and it was really thrilling to hear his passion and knowledge about politics. Going to a small, Catholic school has its advantages and one of then is excellent (if rather aged) professors with connections to get some cool speakers. Among other things, DB gets to go the zoo with Newt Gingrich.
Thankfully, he has not lost his liberal, Democratic heart and he is talking about taking a year off before grad school to work on the 2016 Presidential Campaign with the hopes that he can then parlay that into a job as a staffer for a politician.
He kind of sounds like a grownup when he talks about it :)
It's very cool.
Speakng of politics . . . I was sooooo looking forward to driving to LA Thursday night with a good friend and her daughter to hear Rachel Maddow speak and get a signed copy of her new book. I've had to pull the plug on that idea because as a grown-up I realize that it would not be a smart idea to take my still-not-100% self out until 2 a.m. on a school night. Boo.
Be sure to check out the faces over at Gary, Heidi, Karen and Trudie's places!
Wow, DB does sound grown up! Going to the zoo with Newt Gingrich made me laugh. Coupled with the way-back-machine photo, it just sort of makes sense in this post. :)
Sorry about having to make that grown up decision about not going out on Thursday night. Your body will thank you, I know, but it doesn't keep you from feeling sad about it, does it?

I am so glad to hear that interesting news about your son, oh my! Maybe it is best to have seen conservatives up close, like Newt at the zoo, when you are becoming a liberal political activist. You know what the enemy looks like..... ;)

Hearing your child talk about something they are passionate about has to be the best feeling! I am so glad he's found his passion young.

I love the face paint. I think you've given me an idea for next week's time warp.

He is living a very diverse life; seeing both sides. And surely, he sees the middle as well. You raised a great group of people....pat yourself on the back. (Cause I DO!)
I hope you are feeling like you again soon.
XO

So sorry you missed your road trip - I would love to see Rachel Maddow.
I got to see my boy over the weekend - talking about his grad school/teaching certificate plans and trying to help him heal his hurting heart over a break-up.
Loving our boys - such joy.
