I think it would be fair to say that MVP's impending college graduation (Colorado State University Fort Collins, major in Wildlife Biology, minor in Sustainability) has been considerably overshadowed by Grownup Girl's upcoming dual celebration of Pharmacy School graduation and wedding.
The occassion of his 23rd birthday makes a perfect time to let him know how proud I am of him (the hope would be his girlfriend might notice the post and tell him to read it. You may remember his disdain for my need to memorialize life via blogging, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. I should just live in the moment, man). Sometimes he's right about things like that. Like when he told his dad and I all he wanted for Christmas was for us to give up Kirkland water bottles. Now I own $80 worth of Nalgenes and a Britta water filter and that's a good thing. Though we still gave him the gift of skydiving.
Right now he's about 3/4 Colorado Mountain Man and only 1/4 San Diego Surfer. He may come back some day, but then again, he may not. Thank goodness Colorado is one of my favorite states.
MVP is 100% a solid, upstanding young man who also knows how to have a good time (I attribute the solid, upstanding part to his father and the good time part to me). He's got a job lined up for graduation, he has a wonderful girlfriend and his future's so bright he has to wear shades. Sorry, that was just too easy.
Adult life trajectory aside, I'm awfully proud that I raised a son that has a strong, intelligent, accomplished woman looking at him like this. And vice versa. If he's as good a boyfriend as he is a son and brother, that's saying something.
Happy Birthday, MVP. We are always proud of you, but particularly now.
Happy Birthday MVP and congrats on your upcoming graduation!

That is such an interesting group of guys in that one shot, and I love that the one guy is holding an apple juice (not the typical beer!). Now I am going to make myself very unpopular if he does read this... but his girlfriend (at least in that shot) looks like SB! Hope his birthday was great!

Give him 15 years. He'll be asking for your blog address, wanting to go back and see what others were seeing, remember what others were memorializing, feel what his beloved mum was feeling...
I like him so much.

I know this post is about your son, but I'd just like to say how much I love the way you write about all of your kids. Real love, genuine affection, and honest appreciation. Happy birthday to your son and good on you for raising him so well.

Keep a lookout for sites that do not charge you anything for personalizing your gifts. Here are Mothers Christmas gifts that we recommend: . One of the best ways to create a thoughtful gift is to spend some time with your brother-in-law.
