This is one of the pictures I found that I couldn't share because I didn't want GrownupGirl to wonder about why I was going through the photos.
Somebody asked about my organizational system and sadly, it's not terrific. I have the photos sorted by year in manila envelopes and in a storage bin. I pitched most of the negatives a few years ago because I get great results taking a photo of a photo. I have a couple of other bins of albums and other mementos and I store everything together in case of a fire (we've had to evacuate twice). I can almost always find what I want, but it may take a little time. The time is always enjoyable, though.
My other photos from various computers are on the external hard drive, which reminds me I should back them up. I have a ton of stuff on Flickr, though I don't use it anymore. I also have iCloud on my computer and phone, so I'm assuming I could find things. Plus, I would have to say that I'm such a heavy use of Instagram and Facebook, even if I lost my current stuff, I'd have the important stuff.
I like to think that if I broke my leg & was disabled for a couple of weeks I would put them in albums, but I'm not sure if that would happen. Hopefully, I won't find out.
Stop and say hi to Gary, Karen who are playing along this week.
Gotta love a leggy blonde!
I have plans to get all my photos organized someday. My mom finally did it and made albums for all 5 of us during her first years of retirement.

I don't think I could live in a place where I had to have an evacuation plan. I know I could grab the uber-important documents (birth and marriage certificates), my external hard drive and a few photo albums but then my arms would be full. We've been loading our pictures onto dropbox since I lost so many of them.
As for organizing photos into albums... you either do it or you don't. The important thing is having the pictures as labeled as possible and hopefully stories written down for the future.

Your moms was a looker!
I have some albums ... and some shoeboxes full of photos. It took me a very long time to be ok with throwing away a botched print (you know, one with half an enormous thumb in there by mistake?)

She was hot stuff!
And you have her eyes!
I have about 1/2 of our family's photos in order. Maybe this winter...I say that every year.

Vavavavoom. Your Mom was a beautiful woman....and raised a lovely daughter!
I worry about not being able to find photos....or of a fire as well. I continually upload all my photos to Shutterfly; that way just in case....

I am years behind on the kids' photo albums. Embarrassingly behind. Your mother is beautiful. That is all.

What a wonderful photo to have of your mom! I love looking at photos of my mom when she was younger and thinking about the woman she was before she became a mom.
I've begun scanning in all photos that are pre-digital that we have (some old family photos are with other family members). I've decided the way to go is to make books, rather than put the photos in albums. It seems that no matter what materials you use, 25 years from now things will be coming unglued. I'm currently working on one of Emma's early years.

I love your last paragraph - I am always seeing things around the house and thinking the same way about any large organization task :-) Hopefully we never find out, but if it did happen, we've got LOTS to do!

I have scanned a number of slides. Unfortunately the scanner software does not work with the newer windows...and the laptop with the older windows seems to have died... so I must find a new way...

Howdy would you mind stating which blog platform you're using? I'm going to start my own blog in the near future but I'm having a tough time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most blogs and I'm looking for something unique. P.S Apologies for being off-topic but I had to ask!
